Disable power/memory monitoring on xl170 nodes?
From Josh Fried (joshuafried at gmail.com)
I am trying to use some xl170 machines for latency sensitive experiments,
but they seem to have frequent SMIs (8 per second per core) that last 180us
each. Would it be possible to change some BIOS settings to prevent these?
According to
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01804533&lang=en-u+s&cc=us
(Configuring and tuning HPE ProLiant Servers for low-latency applications), disabling
'Processor Power and Utilization Monitoring' and 'Memory Pre-Failure
Notification' should be helpful.
I believe we also heard this from someone else. Should we disable these settings?
