Mike asks "can I have consoles on the buses?". I say sure, no problem: · 555b3b2a
      Leigh B Stoller authored
Didn't really give it much thought when I said that. Anyway, the browser
consoles on the buses are tricky cause ops does not have a routable IP,
and that is where shellinabox runs, using tiptunnel to connect to the
      capture on boss.

I did not want to move shellinabox to boss, its a big pile of gross code
that I treat as a black box.

So ... I found my thimble full of mod_proxy and mod_rewrite skills,
and managed to use apache on boss, to proxy over to the shellinaboxd
on ops, which talks back to boss. Will this circle stay unbroken?

      Work on and close issue #522 ... · 09a9035d
      Leigh B Stoller authored
Do not put ops into the external named file when ops does not have a
      routable IP address.

And very much related, when ops does not have a routable IP, we do not
want it to be the MX for the testbed, since email cannot be replied to.

Added a new MAILERHOST config variable, when set to "boss", boss becomes
the mailer instead of ops. The lists are maintained on boss, the MX
record is set to boss in the named file, the sendmail install script is
      run on boss, yada yada.

Included is a bit of ELABINELAB cleanup; pass the creator email into
configure via a new config variable, and initialize the email lists
to the creator, instead of doing this in three different places in
      rc.mkelab after the install.

      Checkpoint reservation changes: · 93f3d8f9
      Leigh B Stoller authored
      * Add configure variable to disable email from reserve/notify so that
FEs and MEs do not generate any email at all (except auto cancel).

      * When creating reservations via the Portal, do not send any email any
        target cluster.

      * All email is generated from the Portal now, one message for the entire
        resgroup (approved, deleted, canceled).

      * Move the Announcement support from reservation to resgroup, so again
one per group instead of an Announcement per node type and reservable
        node.

Add medusa patch that fixes core dumps. · c094c864
      Mike Hibler authored
The patch file will get installed by "ports-install" in the
standard medusa ports directory. I decided not to make a custom
version of the port just for this patch.
